Brian Anderson was thrilled to visit North Carolina last fall. He was at Kenan Stadium for the Miami game, but prior to that trip he knew very little about the school and its football program.

Since, however, Anderson has learned a lot, which will come in handy now that an offer from UNC is going to factor into whatever college decision he eventually makes.

“I came up for another visit and have been doing a lot of research on the school,” Anderson told THI not long after being offered by the Tar Heels on Tuesday night. “Definitely a very impressive school and the football program is beginning to peak. There’s a lot of buzz is happening in Tar Heel athletics and Coach (Larry) Fedora is definitely doing something special with the football program.”

It helps that Anderson’s eventual position coach, if he chooses UNC, extended the offer. Chris Kapilovic extended, thrilling the 3-Star offensive guard from Montgomery, AL.

“It’s unreal,” Anderson said was his original feeling when the offer was extended.

Anderson has watched a lot of what Carolina does up front and is impressed, not just with the way the Heels play, but Coach Kap in general.

“Their OL always is making movement off the ball and getting the job done,” he said. “Coach Kap is an old school guy who knows the ins and outs of the OL. He definitely knows how to run the show and run it right.”

Is he a fit for what UNC does? Anderson thinks so.

“I would consider myself very versatile and can easily adapt to any offense,” he said.

Academically, Anderson sees Carolina as a pretty good option.

“One of the best public schools in the nation,” he said. “Hard to beat coming out with a Tar Heel degree.”

Anderson has a lot of offers, though they straddle the line between Power 5 and various others. Among his offers are from Cincinnati, Indiana, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Memphis and many more. Where do the Heels rank as of now?

“Of the offers I have, UNC is probably at the top of my list.”
