Tre Turner is going to eventually come to a fork in the road, though he’s not quite there yet. The rising junior is being recruited by some schools to play basketball and others to play football. Eventually, he’s going to have to make a decision. What will he choose?

"I haven't chosen between the two yet," Turner told THI.

Turner, who has a football offer from North Carolina, is a 6-4, 175-pound wide receiver for Northwest Guilford H.S. in Greensboro, NC. He’s obviously a gifted and talented athlete. Right now, winning is what matters most to him, regardless of the sport.

"I want to just win" Turner said. “I don't like to lose. I want to win in every game we play this year, and I believe my team can get it done.”

Turner has caught the eyes of many college coaches, but one in particular stands out. He’s developing a special bond with UNC wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer.

"We talk often," Turner said. “I call him once or twice a week and he is just a funny guy. He's probably my favorite wide receiver coach I've met so far."

So, what does the North Carolina native think of UNC?

"I love UNC a lot,” said Turner, whose brother is former UNC basketball player P.J. Hairston. “I get treated well when I go there. I've been there a couple of times and plan on going again before August.

“The football program is great. I love when a team airs the ball out for receivers to go get it and that's what I do best."

There is not rush in this recruitment. Turner is focused on his team and winning a state championship, though he says when the time comes, UNC will be among his top schools. Furthermore, as of now, Turner has no list of schools and isn’t going to visit any schools for the rest of the summer.

Other than UNC, Turner has football offers from the likes of FSU, Miami (FL), Tennessee, N.C. State, South Carolina and many others. On the hoops side, he has an offer from West Virginia, among a few others from smaller programs, and has been in contact with N.C. State, Virginia and East Carolina.

What does Turner see his college decision coming down too?

"Just a place where I build a relationship with the coaches, and have it not just be about football for the situation to not deal with football."
